My disagreement is not with the idea of a higher standard (which I prefer to think less in terms "high standards" and more in terms of "following Jesus"... who was thought of by some in His day to have an offensively low standard).

Jesus calls us to practice and teach the sermon on the mount. The letters of the apostles are also filled with teaching on the characteristics that should identify those who follow Jesus (Galatians 5 and I John 4 come immediately to mind).

My disagreement is in the area of emphasis and tone. I realize that the nature of blogs enable an oddly emboldening venue for communication between strangers. You don't know who I am, yet you've taken the liberty to speak candidly into my life as well as put a question mark by my faith. I cherish those moments when my friends speak words of "encouraging discipline" to me in love. But when they come from a stranger, I only sense a spirit of casual, indifferent judgment.

In closing, I had no intention to use offensive language, and rest assured that when we meet on the other side of the Jordan, I will do my best never to use that expression in your presence.

mmmmmmmmmm so u don't think we should hold ourselves to a higher standard [our speech, our actions, etc] than the ungodly world around us?

I hope u will be convicted about that..the lost and seeking out there need to see something different in us.

Wow. I guess I appreciate your effort to admonish a stranger in light a higher standard of verbal purity, but I have to say that I disagree with you. Sorry.

Just accidentally landed in the middle of your thoughts while searching "ebenezer stone]..enjoying 'amazing Grace' then on to "Inconvenience"

Your point, good intentions, etc was Totally Lost when you [a Christian?] used the 'common' phrase "P O'd" no, I won't spell it out. This is one of the places we who wear the badge saying "Christian" lose people and blend into the crowd of Ungodliness around us..when we take on their language [& other things} They see no difference in Us & them..why should listen to what we are all about?

I hope u appreciate the Challenge to a higher standard :^)

Yeah... I was a little out of hand. Entirely to drunk for that early in the day. The part you missed, was upon entering the store, I was singing (at what I thought was my inside voice) "I Love You, You Love Me" by that winsom sage, Barney. It soon became apparent that no love was to be had that day. Anyway, thanks again for cooling me off with your 32 oz. beverage.
